ROSEBURG,OR July 30, 2018 - Mercy Foundation’s Learning Child (TLC) committee believes every child should start the school year ready to learn. For some students, not having pencils, paper and other required items can be embarrassing and can prevent them from fully participating in the learning experience.
This is where the TLC committee and Sherm’s comes in. The TLC’s goal is to make the back to school transition a little easier for thousands of local families with already stretched budgets. Each year they help send kids back to school with the tools they need to be successful.
This year they are teaming up with Sherm’s Thunderbird to help fundraise during August and make it easy for shoppers to make donations. Visit any cashier at Sherm’s (Roseburg location only) and add a “TLC donation” of any amount to your bill. A certificate featuring a backpack will have a place for you to sign your name and will be posted in the store.
All funds raised from the campaign at Sherm’s will be used locally to help provide Douglas County children with backpacks and school supplies, hygiene products, socks and shoes and lice shampoo.
“We are so grateful to Sherm’s for being our partner for our “backpack” to school campaign this August. It is so convenient to add that extra$1, $2 or $5 while checking out and help our local kids head back to school ready to learn – a win-win for everyone!,” states Mercy Foundation president, Lisa Platt.
